Re: "Baby's First Poop"

Dear David Kessling, director of Capla Kesting Fine Art,

I was reading your lovely press release on...this.

Not only do you support an unheard theory of babies starving for four months on breast milk...

Babies mostly breastfeed for the first four months, so a baby’s first meal of solid food may be a baby’s first meal at the dinner table.
but you have no clue of what a baby's real first poop looks like!

I'm pretty sure Daniel Edwards, the guy who created this, um, masterpiece, dumped on a piece of wood, spraypainted it and called it art.

That leads me to only one logical conclusion: You were the validictorian at your
obstetrics/art school, right?

Although I truly enjoy your blog, the level of ignorance you just expressed regarding breast feeding and breastmilk set my teeth on edge. It is best to feed a child nothing but breastmilk for the first SIX months of life. Children who are EXCLUSIVELY breastfeed for the first year of life have far fewer allergies than their formula fed peers. They also tend to be heavier and research indicates they have higher IQ's. THEY WOULD NOT BE STARVING! VERY FAR FROM IT ACTUALLY! Before you speak on something as important as breastfeeding, please do your homework. But aside from this issue (just one that i happen to be passionate about), please keep up the great work! I truly do love this blog!! ;0)

In my interpretation, the director of that hack art gallery was saying that babies weren't actually eating food until they were off breast milk. I never said that babies shouldn't breastfeed; I was addressing the fact that a hack art director thought that he knew what poop looked like, and apparently it looks like adult feces.
