Re: Your videos

Dear Hype Williams,

Recently, before after they embarrassed themselves with a ridiculous top ten list of the greatest MCs of all time (Numbers 10-5, in order: LL Cool J, Eminem, Ice Cube, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Nas. Honorable mentions: Andre 3000, Big Pun, Black Thought [of the Roots], Common, Ghostface, Lauryn Hill, Kool G Rap, Scarface, Slick Rick, Snoop Dogg. Proof that Rolling Stone is MTV's daddy.), you told MTV that you weren't doing those weird letterbox videos.

You claimed that

We're so used to looking at letterbox because of DVDs, that everyone's brains tunes into what's in the middle and there's nothing that fills up the entire TV screen anymore.

So I should feel like a dumbass because I'm the only person in America that's never wanted to see a freakin' Pink Panther cartoon while Beyonce moves like a robot to "Check On It." Thank you, Hype. I feel much better now.

Anyway, in the article, you claim that you were the first director to do whatever you did with your horrible music videos.

But you're not the first.

Case in point: Rob Zombie's video for "Never Gonna Stop."

So Hype, send some money by Rob's way. I'm sure he'll appreciate the extra cash along with whatever he's getting for Educated Horses.
